Renal Angioplasty
This 90 year old woman with refractory hypertension and renal insufficiency underwent MRA which demonstrated an atrophied right kidney secondary to renal artery occlusion. A normal size left kidney was supplied by an artery with an ulcerated stenosis. The conventional arteriogram performed for therapy confirms the MRA findings. A stent was placed in the left renal artery. The patient's creatinine decreased and the hypertension resolved.
